in the early 1960s, the negative spirit was torn from their home dimension and forced to live in the body of captain larry trainor, a closeted gay airforce test pilot who was running from every aspect of his life. they experience so much together after their merging---government torture prisons, near death experiences, visits from the future self, multiple apocalypses---and all through this time the negative spirit continues to try to help larry through his trauma and pain. for years, they fight and fight and unintentionally torture one another, unable to communicate, until larry realizes that the negative spirit has only ever wanted to help him. it's an incredibly complex relationship between two people who love each other, who also hate each other, who need each other, who want each other gone, who adore each other, who want to help each other, who know more about each other than anyone else ever possibly could. and they have a kid together!
DR. MORDEN X ANNA SHERIDAN (BABYLON 5 NOVELS)
dr. morden is the lead archaeolinguist of the icarus mission---a trip to explore a planet on the rim of known space that will later be known as z'ha'dum. anna sheridan is also on that mission. anna sees dr. morden in a state of deep mental distress, because 7 months prior his family had been killed in an explosion, and she decides to make him her "project"; she'll help him heal before the mission ends. however, dr. morden is determined to do the exact opposite of heal, and by the end of the book, he betrays her at the last moment in search of a numbing end to his pain. in-between, though, they grow close, holding each other many times, having deep discussions, and at one point, anna even steals an object he got for his deceased wife from his quarters, drills a hole in it, and makes it into a necklace "gift" for him. they're Insane about each other, and i adore them, even though they suck.
CLAIRE FINN X ISAAC (THE ORVILLE)
claire finn is the chief medical officer of the ship the uss orville, and isaac is its lead science officer, an artificial lifeform. claire slowly falls in love with him over the seasons, eventually culminating in them forming a relationship; though isaac proclaims to not feel love, he realizes that he functions much more efficiently with claire in his life, and makes constant errors in her absence. he betrays his creators and his entire planet to save claire and her family, and his relationship with her is shown to be the only thing that saves all biological life in the universe from extinction. claire loves him, and he loves her in his own way, and they get married at the end of season 3 :')
